CompetitionsWrestling tournaments in Louisiana are held on Saturdays beginning in the middle of February. See the schedule below for exact dates. The entry fees for competing in a tournament are usually $10 per wrestler. There are 3 types of wrestling styles; Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman. The folkstyle season is the most popular, and it's what is used in high school wrestling. Those tournaments begin in the middle of February and finish the first week of April. The Folkstyle National Championships usually take place the first week of April. Freestyle and Greco-Roman is the style of wrestling in the Olympics and those tournaments take place in April and May. The Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships usually take place in July. In addition to tournaments held in Louisiana, WWC members are eligible for any tournament sanctioned by USA Wrestling held throughout the United States. For a schedule of those tournaments, check our Next Level page or got to The Mat. For those of you new to the sport of wrestling, these tournaments are a full day of wrestling excitement so plan you day accordingly. |
