Westbank Wrestlers Competing

The Kid's Folkstyle in Louisiana season ended with the state tournament held on March 26th at East Ascension High School. The WWC had a state champion in Zachary Drake. Zack wrestled in the pre-bantam 52 lb. weight class. He took home gold after defeating a wrestler he had previously lost to in another tournament.

We also had 2 wrestlers compete in the Dixie Duals in Birmingham, AL on March 25th-27th. They were Joshua Redmond at 145 lb. and DJ McIntyre at 215 lb. McIntyre also competed at the NHSCA Junior Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA on March 30th-April 3rd. Two wrestlers also traveled to Cedar Falls, IA March 1st-3rd for the USAW Folkstyle Nationals.

Bestbank Freestyle/Greco Tournament

Saturday, April 9, 2011.

The Bestbank Tournament was held in the John Ehret Gymnasium. The went well with all the help from our parents and wrestlers. We also had many winners from the Westbank. In freestyle, the first place winners were Hayden Arbrough, Derron Harris, Jack Fontenot, Blaze d'Aquin, Joseph d'Aquin and Joshua Redmond. We also had Albert Berggren, Ashton Surrency, Lucas Machann, John Drake, Bryce Arbrough, Matthew Kirkland, Antonio Castro, Xavier Soto, Kyle Kirkland, Jeffrey Kirkland, Stefon Foster, Jorge Sanchez, Nichiolas Arbrough, Dustin Duquette, Cody Wilson, Hosea Jones, Logan Thompson, Adam Albarado, Jordan Mastrianni,  and Dortanyia McIntyre place in the top four.  The Greco tournament had Jack Fontenot, Blaze d'Aquin. Joseph d'Aquin and Logan Thompson win championships for the Westbank. The others to place in the top four in Greco were: Lucas Machann, John Drake, Brennan LeBlanc, Bryce Arbrough, Matthew Kirkland, Antonio Castro, Xavier Soto, Kyle Kirkland, Jeffrey Kirkland, Stefon Foster, Nichiolas Arbrough, Cody Wilson, Hosea Jones, Logan Thompson, Adam Albarado, Jordan Mastrianni,  and Dortanyia McIntyre.
